Tutorials

The links below are excellent tutorials for researchers who would like to become more familiar with some commonly used bioinformatics programs.

Bioinformatics Tools
This set of tutorials covers a wide spectrum of the tools available for bioinformatics research and is maintained by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
BLAST
This BLAST tutorial is maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
ClustalW for Nucleotide Sequences
This ClustalW tutorial is maintained by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
ClustalW for Protein Sequences
This ClustalW tutorial is maintained by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
InterPro
This InterPro tutorial is maintained by the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
NCBI Mini-Courses
The NCBI Mini-Courses can be attended in person or taken online. Course number 1, Making Sense of DNA and Protein Sequences, is an excellent introduction to the tools used when trying to identify genes, from the initial BLAST search all the way through to modeling the protein's tertiary structure.
Sequencher
This Sequencher tutorial is maintained by the Gene Codes Corporation.
UNIX
This UNIX tutorial is maintained by Kevin Heard at the University of California, Berkeley.
UNIX
This UNIX tutorial is maintained by Heather Sherman and Roger Murray at the California Institute of Technology.
