Riftia Endosymbionts

Habitat They are endosymbionts of the tubeworm Riftia pachyptila which are found in hydrothernal vents.
Significance They are sulfur-oxidizing, chemoautotrophic organisms which provide nutrients for their host, who has no digestive system of its own.
